Ragusa

While in Modica, we had to do a day trip to Ragusa, another hill town destroyed by the 1693 earthquake and then rebuilt in the Baroque style of the day.  Pip had visited here several months ago, so we knew to expect lots and lots of steps and lots of narrow streets.

How did Pip haul her huge suitcase up all these hundreds of steps with the flu?!? San Giorgio in Ragusa - the resemblance to San Giorgio in Modica could be coincidental, but they were built by the same bloke.

They also do the same charging around the church with a statue ritual – only there were several statues involved in Ragusa The gardens at the bottom of town were lovely…

…and just the spot for lunch. Please note the vino bianco, bought at the local bread shop with the sandwiches. Weeding the bell tower
